After receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Graphic Design from The American University in Washington, D.C., I spent many years as a professional freelance artist while raising our family in Michigan and Georgia. Designing Children’s murals and paintings, hand painted typography and illustrations for logos and signage, and calligraphy were my focus for more than 25 years. In the last five years, though, I have enjoyed creating a wide variety of custom art, both illustrative and inspirational…including pet and animal portraits most recently.
In October of 2012, the name “Joy to the WORD” came to me in a dream as an incredible gift from God after many prayers, and a personally challenging year. Five art shows were consolidated into five weeks just before my fiftieth birthday that year, and I haven’t stopped painting since. I am so grateful to have shared my art with many wonderful people who have become an important part of my life, and am excited to continue this art journey with you.
All of the paintings and signs shown are original and created by hand using gallery profile canvases, various types of wood, premium acrylic paint, and a top coat varnish for protection. The techniques used are labor intensive…in many cases applying countless brush strokes and multiple layers of paint to attain a three dimensional effect in the lettering and/or illustrations. If you have any questions, and/or would like to place an order, please contact me.
The mission of Joy to the WORD is to spread JOY through uplifting and inspirational art. The unique paintings and signs make meaningful pieces for your home, thoughtful gifts for any occasion, tributes to loved ones…and more. Each piece can be customized, personalized, and detailed to your specifications in any color, size, and style. Enjoy your one of a kind work of art and know that it was truly created with LOVE!
Please visit the Whimsy Collection for a CURE tab for special paintings dedicated to CURE Childhood Cancer, the Caring Canvases tab to learn about our art ministry and how you can touch people’s lives by “Painting it Forward” in the community, and our Spread the JOY tab to schedule a fundraising event for the charitable organization of your choice.
Finally, my husband John and our beautiful children Bridget, Emily, and Christopher have been incredible throughout this experience, and I cannot thank them enough for their tremendous support. They inspire me to do better each day, and my love for them is beyond measure!
Many thanks for stopping by Joy to the WORD, God Bless, and Be Joyful!
