About

After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design from The American University in Washington, D.C., I spent more than 25 years as a professional freelance artist, muralist, and calligrapher while raising our family in Michigan and Georgia.

In October of 2012, the name “Joy to the WORD” came to me in a dream as a remarkable gift from God after a challenging year personally. I began painting many hours a day, with a spiritual and inspirational focus initially. Five art shows were consolidated into five weeks just before celebrating my fiftieth birthday that year, and am thankful to say I’m still painting. Over the years my art work has continued to grow and change in subject and style, and am excited to see where it goes next.

The mission of Joy to the WORD is to spread joy through uplifting, original, and meaningful art. The paintings, pet portraits, signs, and prints make unique pieces for your home, thoughtful gifts for any occasion, tributes to loved ones, and more.

Each piece of art is created by hand and can be customized, personalized, and detailed to your specifications. If you have any questions, and/or would like to place an order, please contact me.

Giving back to the community has always been a priority personally and professionally. With the help of friends, family, clients, and businesses, Joy to the WORD has been able to donate several thousand of dollars to CURE Childhood Cancer, as well as additional monetary donations to other non-profit organizations. My business has also made significant in-kind art donations to a variety of non-profit organizations, schools, and churches in the Atlanta area to assist with their fundraising efforts. Since 2012, the collective value of in-kind donations totals approximately $60,000.

For the past nine years, I have been blessed to share my art with incredible people and groups who have touched my life in countless ways. I am truly grateful for everyone’s kindness and patronage, and am looking forward to continuing this journey with you.

Finally, I cannot thank my husband and our beautiful children enough for their tremendous support, encouragement, patience, and humor since the beginning. John, Bridget, Emily, and Chris inspire me to do better each day, and my love for them is beyond measure.

Thank you for visiting my website, and be JOYful!
