After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design from The American University in Washington, D.C., I spent many years as a professional freelance artist while raising our family in Michigan and Georgia. Creating children’s murals, logos, illustrations, signage and calligraphy were my focus for more than 25 years.
In October of 2012, the name “Joy to the WORD” came to me in a dream as an incredible gift from God after a challenging year personally and many prayers. Five art shows were consolidated into five weeks just before my fiftieth birthday that year, and I am grateful to say that I haven’t stopped painting since.
The mission of Joy to the WORD is to spread joy through uplifting, original and meaningful art. The paintings, pet portraits, signs and prints shown make unique pieces for your home, thoughtful gifts for any occasion, tributes to loved ones and more.
Each piece is created by hand and can be customized, personalized and detailed to your specifications. If you have any questions, and/or would like to place an order, please contact me.
Giving back to the community has always been a priority personally and professionally. With the help of friends, family, clients and businesses, Joy to the WORD has been able to donate approximately $11,000 to CURE Childhood Cancer (our main philanthropy) to date. In 2019, we also donated in-kind original art work valued at approximately $9,000 to a variety of non-profit organizations and schools in the Atlanta area to assist with their fundraising efforts.
Over the last several years I have been blessed to share my art with remarkable people and groups who have touched my life in countless ways. I am truly grateful for everyone’s kindness and patronage, and am looking forward to continuing this journey with you.
Finally, I cannot thank my husband John and our beautiful children Bridget, Emily and Chris enough for their tremendous support, encouragement, patience and humor since the beginning. They inspire me to do better each day, and my love for them is beyond measure.
Thank you for visiting Joy to the WORD, and be JOYful!
